CHILOE ISLAND

Located in the front coast of Puerto Montt, it is the largest Chilean insular territory crossed from north to south by the coastal range. It is only accesible by ferrys that form the bridge that conect the island with the region and the rest of the country. Being on the island, it is possible to apreciate the typical houses onthe water known as “palafitos”, a scenary rarely seen, full of grace and poetry. Land of the Chilotes, the original people of the island, owners of rich mythological traditions and peculiar beliefs. The very distintive architecture of Chiloé churches, its materials, larch tiles and ornamental style have transformed them in an icon, recongnized internationally and declared World Heritage by the UNESCO.
